Link in Bio

Link in Bio

Link in Bio is a first-party, self-hosted profile card. It publishes one name, a short biography, an optional avatar, and up to 30 visitor actions without fetching a remote social profile or sending profile content to another service.

Profile and avatar

The public name is limited to 100 characters and the biography to 500. Choose an avatar from the website's Media library so the widget stores a stable media identity and resolves its current permitted delivery URL when published. A directly entered image URL remains available as a compatibility fallback and uses the same public-media URL policy.

Alternative text can identify the avatar when it adds information beyond the visible profile name. When no valid image is available, the widget displays deterministic initials instead of a broken image. The visible name remains the accessible identity in either case.

Safe actions

Every action has a stable key, a plain-text label of at most 100 characters, and one validated destination. The accepted forms are deliberately closed:

  • https:// links without embedded usernames or passwords;
  • mailto: with an email address and optional subject or body;
  • tel: telephone hand-offs;
  • sms: telephone hand-offs with an optional body;
  • the bounded viber://chat?number=… and tg://resolve?domain=… messaging forms.

Generic HTTP, protocol-relative, credential-bearing, executable, malformed, or unregistered schemes are rejected before a draft is saved and again omitted defensively during rendering. HTTPS links open in a separately protected context with noopener noreferrer; device hand-offs stay in the current browsing context.

Labels and biography text are always escaped. The widget does not interpret operator content as HTML or script.

Templates and portability

Creator Profile starts with website, project, and newsletter actions. Business Profile starts with services, consultation, and email actions. Minimal Profile provides one focused website action. Every template creates an ordinary editable draft.

Link in Bio participates in the normal widget lifecycle, complete website backups, local workspace snapshots, and Automation API configuration workflows. It does not claim remote profile/feed synchronization or a provider connector. Media portability follows the website Media library and its stable references rather than copying a transient resolved avatar URL into the saved profile.
